To the scared little girl inside

Dear scared hurt little girl,

I love you. It’s very important that you know that. You have been hurt a lot by people that you trusted and you want to protect yourself and that’s okay. No one else protected you so you had to protect yourself. Boundaries are okay when you are unsure or feel unsafe. Saying no to what makes you uncomfortable is okay. Keeping hurtful people out of your life is okay. But it is very important for you to know that not everyone is going to hurt you. Or maybe some will but it doesn’t mean that that hurt was intentional, or they do not love you, or you have to push them away. I know that is hard for you to believe and that is okay too. You gained that distrust honestly and no one faults you for that. Forgive yourself for that. I’m sorry that I didn’t protect you more. I didn’t listen when you whispered inside of me that something or someone was unsafe. I am so sorry for that. I am sorry that I allowed you to be hurt. I am better now though and I am going to listen to you better. Can you do me a favor though? Let’s trust someone. Let’s be brave enough to do that. You can’t live your life with this wall around you because when you do, THEY WIN! You are beautiful. You are smart. You are funny. You are love. You are unique. You are worthy of love and I am so sorry that no one ever noticed you enough to see the treasure in you. I want you to be proud of you. You are a beautiful brave girl. I want you to no longer doubt when the people who love grown up you tell you all of the beauty that they see in your heart and eyes. Trust them. They know you and all of they things they say are true. Don’t blame yourself another day. Give fault to those who it belongs to. Those burdens are not yours and are much too heavy for you to continue to carry. Release it all! None of it is yours. You will feel lighter and there will be so much more room for the good things that await you. And beautiful young girl, there are good things. Let someone love you sweet girl. Not just the parts that you feel are beautiful and worthy of love. All of you! All of you is beautiful and worthy of love. Every radiant, breathtaking, beautiful, scarred, imperfect piece of you is worthy. You were made for beautiful things. It’s time you soar. Let go my precious and soar. SOAR!
